What dental insurance is available to me?

Life brings unexpected events and any thing can happen at any time. In order to ensure a safe life for ourselves and our near and dear ones, insurance companies offer various plans. Though they are of real help during the time of need, the policies do not cover everything. You must be aware of what they do and do not cover before taking a policy.

Dental Insurance

Its not a surprising fact that most people do not have dental insurance. Very few people even know about the advantages of a dental insurance policy. The policy covers the expenses of any treatment given for the tooth gums or face. This policy is available for individuals, groups and families. In some companies the employer covers his employees for dental treatments for which the amount is deducted from their salaries.
Most of the insurance policies have minimal premiums and maximum returns. They cover accidents, emergency and surgeries. A standard cover includes fast claims, free treatment from a private or government appointed dentist and coverage right from the month of joining.

The primary policy holder can include his spouse and dependents in the policy as secondary members. The policy holders are eligible for routine check ups, emergency treatments and any kind of minor or major surgeries. If the primary holder wishes to go abroad for some reason, he can get his policy valid there and treated too with a written note from his dentist. Just make sure you have valid receipts for having received treatment there. Reading dentists usually offer you a receipt for any check up or treatment taken in their clinic. By producing the receipt, you can claim the charges.

There are two basic types of plans available in dental insurance. One is dental health maintenance organization and the second is a preferred provider organization. Though both of them are very useful and helpful during the times of need, they each have their own pros and cons.
